This Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003 Yellow Springs located in Chester

the film "THE BLOB" which was filmed in the Downingtown
Dinner, Colonial Theater in Phoenixville and in Yellow Springs,
with much of the post production work and sound stage filming
being done at the Yellow Springs location. Steve McQueen
won't be there but the Blob will [or at least part of it].
Festivities begin at 12:30 pm and include: a parade, sock
hop, hoola- hoop contest, classic car show, old fashioned
carnival games and at the heart of things an exhibit of
Blob Memorabilia from Bob Shank's private collection. Shank's
collection includes a bucket of blob [some of the actual
material used in the making of the alien creature], and
original filming script [both were purchased from the director
of the film, Irvin S. Yeaworth, in 1965] plus many other
items. You can even have your picture taken with the alien
red slime.
Other activities will include: tea with Miss Marple [50s
era detective], DJ spinning 50s tunes, local rock band PRIME
TIME will playing 'Beware the Blob', history of the film
studio years in 'Yellow Springs Goes Hollywood', a retrospective
look back at the Good News Production/Valley Forge Film
Studio and kids will even get the chance to film their own
movie in the HYS Soundstage.
Admission is free and so is the parking. If it rains everything
moves indoors [except of course the car show].
