Fall 2002 TV Shows
By The SciFi Slacker (aka Kelly Hoffman)
Fall is finally here and with it a new TV lineup. There have
been a few cancellations of favorites this year with Dark
Angel and Farscape heading out the door. But a few newcomers
look promising like FireFly on FOX and Birds of Prey on The
WB. And UPN brings back a classic with The Twilight Zone.
So here's to a new season of view fun.
UPN
continues to offer us two nights of Sci-fi. Tuesday with Buffy
the Vampire Slayer and Haunted.
And Wednesday with Enterprise
and The
Twilight Zone.
FOX
will bring back some of our favorites: Futurama
and The
Simpsons, but last year was the end for both
The X-Files and Dark
Angel. 24, comes back as well to it's Tuesdays
at 9pm time slot. Wonder what will happen in the next twenty
four hours? New this Fall is Firefly, 'Set 800 years
in the future, in the wake of a universal civil war, Firefly
centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship.'
(but no aliens here as creator Joss Whedon doesn't believe
in intelligent life in outer space.) FoxBox (formerly FoxKids)
brings us Stargate
Infinity and Ultraman
Tiga . And later this winter The
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return to TV.
The
WB still
has Angel
and Charmed
(both have been moved to Sunday night) hanging in there
as well as and Smallville
with a newcomer - Birds
of Prey, Wednesdays at 9 this Fall. BOP takes
the basic Batman storyline and runs wild with it. Think about
it. What if crimefighter (Batman) and criminal (Catwoman)
shared a secret? There is also Do
Over, which kind of has the old time travel twist
to it with a 34 going back to his teen years but with his
all knowledge intact. Online check out the episodes of Gotham
Girls at the WB website.
NBC
- Once again NBC has nothing new in the sci-fi/fantasy vein
just your standard comedies and dramas.
ABC
brings back Alias
airing on Sundays at 9m. Season Premieres 9/29/02. Also play
Alias'
online adventure, become a recruit and join the fight
against SD-6! Certainly worth a watch now that X-Files is
gone. Also on ABC this Fall is Dinotopia: The Series which
picks up where the mini-series left off and airs Thurdays
at 8/7c.
CBS
is continuing with their police, legal and political dramas
no new sci-fi here.
And for those who can get it there is always the SCIFI
channel (who has just canceled the last of their original
programs, Farscape) and Showtime Beyond with shows like Odyssey
5 and Jeremiah.
Once again time to check your local
listings and set your VCRs!
