A Poltergeist: The Legacy Revival Underway

Fans Of the show Poltergeist: The Legacy might find this
interesting. A group of fans for the paranormal television
series have started a letter-writing campaign to resurrect
the drama series from its early and undeserving grave.
The show ran for three years on Showtime and in syndication
before being picked up for a fourth season by the SCI FI Channel
for their original series lineup on Friday nights. However,
SCI FI canceled the series in 1999 after the end of the fourth
season.
Poltergeist: The Legacy is a drama starring Helen Shaver
( Desert
Hearts, Tremors
II, The
Craft ) and Derek DeLint ( Three
Men And A Baby, Deep
Impact, Stealing Heaven
). The series is based on paranormal activity, which is being
investigated by a group known as The Legacy. Each story is
unique and intriguing but the series was never based on the
series of Poltergeist
films (similar to a previous show Friday The 13th: The
Series which had nothing to do with the film series).
The letter-writing campaign is organized by a Texas fan,
Julia Walker, who says, that 300 fans have written letters
to MGM the producers of the show. Walker assures fans "that
each letter written from her site will be forwarded to the
actors and actresses of the series" via MGM. Walker states,
"It is my understanding that they [MGM] are very open to restarting
the series." This is certainly good news to fans everywhere.
Fans are encouraged to write letters to SCI FI, Trilogy Entertainment
and Showtime. There is also an online petition, which was
organized separately, that has received more than 400 signatures
from fans in support of reviving the series.
Online fan support and letter-writing campaigns can work.
All they need is for the fans to letter the show creators
know they want more. Just look at what fans recently did for
Cleopatra 2525 that was slated for cancellation but thanks
to fans the show was saved.
With enough support Julia Walker and fans like her will surely
be able to resurrect a show with so much fan support as Poltergeist:
The Legacy.
