OMG, I am kind of glad I did not see [amazon_link id=”B005LAIIA8″ target=”_blank” ]Frankenweenie[/amazon_link] in the theater (especially after the bawling incident with UP! a few years ago). Needless to say at this point, but I needed a few tissues a couple of times during my viewing of Frankenweenie (now out on DVD — go buy it and see for yourself).
I even had to avert my eyes when Sparky was hit by the car (although we never see it actually happen). It’s just when Sparky started running after that ball I knew what was going to happen and I had to close my eyes (I should have held my ears closed too).
I loved this film (even with the sad bits). It is a great homage to the Frankenstein movie and a hat tip to classic horror films like; The Mummy, Dracula, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Wolfman, The Invisible Man, and Godzilla (even on a rampage you still gotta love that Shelly).
After you watch this film you have to check out the behind the scenes bonus features on the discs. You will be glad you did. It is really amazing how much work goes into making these stop motion marvels.
